On 12 September 2007, the Pieter Ombregt Scholarship Fund was founded in honor of our nephew Pieter Ombregt. Pieter was a extremely talented fine arts student at Columbia College in Chicago.  He was also an avid bike racer. On September 11 2007, Pieter passed away in Chicago after crashing in a bike race, blinded by the bright evening sun.

We hope the Scholarship will encourage fellow students at Columbia College to pursue excellence the way Pieter did. The scholarship is merit based and is awarded every year to a third or fourth year student at the Fine Arts Photography Department at Columbia College. So far, five very deserving students received the Pieter Ombregt Scholarship.

To make the award a consistent event, we strive to increase the capital in the Fund. On April 11, 2010, Karel ran the Paris Marathon to raise additional funds. He also gives talks for which the audience is given the opportunity to contribute to the fund.

It is with this purpose I turn to you.

It would be great if you would become a sponsor. Should you decide to do so, please go to the link below where you can donate.
